Diana Holquist

Ghostwriter, editor, author coach

I love to write. That’s pretty much all I do.

Ask my family about the undone laundry, the un-bought groceries, and the fact that I rarely find time to get dressed in the morning. Actually, if you train your family right, they won’t notice any of these things.

I started out as an advertising copywriter in New York City, writing award-winning ads for Pepsi, Sony, BMW, and other multi-national corporations. It was the world’s best training ground for writing fast, fearless, and funny on deadline and under intense competitive pressure. It was also an excellent place to learn about the corporate world, which has been a great help in writing business books about everything from digital marketing to hiring truck drivers.

Eventually, I left the big city for small town Ithaca, New York to raise a family. While there, I wrote and published six novels with Hachette Book Group, a memoir with Five Directions Press, and a children’s book with Penguin Random House. My books have been translated into five languages, gotten starred reviews in Publisher’s Weekly, and won the New York Book Festival award for Best Novel.

But I missed the collaboration of my advertising days—working intensely with smart people to create breakthrough work. By chance, I discovered ghostwriting, and realized it was the best of both worlds: smart people and smart books. Since then, I’ve ghostwritten all kinds of books for all kinds of people. Some have been bestsellers and won awards. Others have had print runs in the single digits with a copy for mom, Uncle Lou, and the grandkids. When done with care, intention, and honesty, the impact of any project can be extraordinary no matter the scale.

I’m a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in philosophy and currently live on the Philadelphia Main Line with one cat, one husband, and way too many books.
